Follow our beauty countdown to make sure you’re looking your best for your big day!

One of the things that stresses brides out is making sure they look perfect on their wedding day. It takes some planning to make sure you look your best on your special day. Follow this beauty countdown and you can’t go wrong!

3 Months before the wedding:

• Review hairstyles to find the top three that you like the best
• Make a list of makeup specialists in your area
• Make a list of hair salons
• Visit a tanning salon to learn about tanning and spray tans
• Learn meditation and relaxation techniques

2 Months before the wedding:

• Choose hairstyle
• Test the hairstyle by having it done. Make sure you use the tiara or veil that you’ll be wearing so you can see how the style works with it. This leaves you plenty of time to choose another style if this one doesn’t work out as planned.
• Tip – Take a photo of your hairstyle after it’s complete. Your hairstylist will be better able to duplicate it when the time comes.
• Make a hair salon appointment.  It is best to do this at least 6 weeks before the wedding to ensure that the day and time you prefer is open and that your stylist is available.
• Decide on tanning options and make necessary appointments
• Make a dentist appointment for teeth cleaning or whitening
• Have your makeup done to test it prior to the wedding
• Make a list of the colours and products that are used so your makeup artist will be able to duplicate them.
• Schedule an appointment with your makeup artist. Note – check with your makeup artist to find out if she is available for a home visit to apply makeup on your wedding day.

1 Month before the wedding:

• Choose a nail colour for your wedding
• Visit the nail salon to have your nails done to make sure you’re happy with the results.
• Make a beauty emergency kit. This kit should include makeup in the colours that you’ll be using, cotton swabs, makeup remover pads, tissues, cosmetic brushes, safety pins, bobby pins and clips, nail polish, and makeup blotting cloths.
• Make an appointment for waxing

2 Weeks before the wedding:

• Assign the beauty emergency kit to a friend or family member, putting them in charge of making sure your makeup stays fresh throughout the day.
• Visit the dentist to have your teeth cleaned or whitened

1 Week before the wedding:

• Have your nails done a day or two before the wedding. This will keep them looking good for the rehearsal dinner. Keep a bottle of the nail polish available – if there is any chipping you can easily repair the nail.
• Complete your tanning regime if you have one. Don’t plan on tanning too close to the wedding in case something goes wrong.
• Visit the salon for your waxing needs (allow a couple of days before the wedding since waxing can cause redness for a day or two)

The night before the wedding:

• Get plenty of rest (easier said than done!)
• Don’t consume too much alcohol!
• Moisturize your skin before bed
• Relax

The day of the wedding:

• Get your hair and makeup done
• Drink plenty of water
• Enjoy your day – you look beautiful!
