Popular wedding arguments and how to deal with them

Planning your wedding is difficult but it can be more difficult when there are disagreements about the wedding. It’s helpful to know what some of the most common arguments are and, more importantly, how to work through the issues when they arise. Keep in mind that while your wedding is special, it’s just one day. It’s essential to learn how to work through problems and compromise in making decisions as arguments come along. Here are some of the most common arguments and how to deal with them.

The size of the wedding – The size of the wedding can be one of the first areas of disagreement in wedding planning. Some people prefer a large wedding while others would like a small affair. The budget should determine the size of the wedding.

The cost of the wedding – Compromise is important – avoid creating a wedding that you can’t afford. Wedding prices can quickly skyrocket and you need to stay within your given budget. Determine whether you’ll be getting help paying for the wedding, create a budget, and stick to it.

The wedding theme – There are many different wedding themes. When choosing a theme you should be sure that both partners like it. Make a list of several themes that you both like and then choose one from the list. If you can’t agree on a theme, forgo the idea and simply put on an elegant traditional affair.

Location of the wedding – Where to have the wedding is one of the most important decisions you’ll have to make when planning the wedding. If you and your partner are from different cities, the choice can be even more difficult. Consider having two smaller weddings or opt for a wedding in one city and a party in another. Or, choose a destination wedding.

Type of religious ceremony – These days many people marry outside of their own religion. Choosing a religious ceremony can cause a rift. To compromise, have the wedding at a non-religious venue and include both religions in the ceremony, creating your own unique take on the wedding service.
