It’s hard to say that one honeymoon destination or another is unique. Someone who lives in the mountains may think that going to the beach is unique, while a coastal resident may think traveling to a romantic ski lodge is out-of-the-blue.
However, you can still think outside of the box when it comes to having a unique honeymoon experience. It’s all a matter of taste: Romantic may be quiet and secluded for some, or exciting and adventurous for others.
Here are a few suggestions for unique honeymoons:
Theme parks – Whether it’s Disneyland, Sea World, or Busch Gardens, there are plenty of places scattered throughout the U.S. that can provide hours of entertainment. Orlando, Florida, makes for a great destination because so many theme parks are within easy reach. Check with your travel agent to see if they have honeymoon packages for multiple theme parks for extra savings.
Provincial parks – Heading to one of the country’s many provincial parks across the country can make for a relaxing get-away. Drive up to Algonquin Park in Ontario, or maybe take a trip to Bridal Veil Falls Provincial Park in B.C. for something new and interesting.
Bed and breakfast – For those who may not have the budget to travel, a getaway to a nearby bed and breakfast is a great alternative. Or, staying at a B&B away from home is an option as well. Many B&Bs cater to the honeymoon traveler, and can make your stay extra romantic.
Big city life – Contrary to popular belief, most people don’t live in a big city. However, big cities are a great place to spend a week or weekend. Romantic restaurants, stage productions, sporting events, and classy hotels can make for a great time.
Party time – All across the North America and around the world, there are festivals that celebrate just about everything, from the mundane to the way-out wacky. Also, you don’t have to plan your honeymoon the moment your reception is over if you can’t get your wedding to match with the festival you want to attend. From the Florida Strawberry Festival in tiny Plant City (tons of famous country acts play there) to Mardi Gras in New Orleans or Carnival in Rio de Janeiro to the La Tomatina festival in Bunyol (with its famed tomato food fight), there are tons of way to party down on your honeymoon.
